Brian currently serves as the Founder and Chairman of a portfolio of companies, including Labarium, where he partners with private equity and commercial debt providers to acquire high-performing, CLIA-compliant clinical laboratories across the United States. In 2024, Forbes profiled Brian Meshkin as “A Predictive Healthcare Visionary,” recognizing his leadership in advancing Predictive Healthcare, a model that applies clinical data, genetics, and artificial intelligence to identify health risks earlier, personalize treatment decisions, and improve patient outcomes. The feature highlighted his mission to transform healthcare from a reactive system into one centered on prediction, prevention, and precision medicine.
Forbes also recognized Meshkin's work addressing two of America's most significant public health challenges: chronic pain and the opioid epidemic. His companies developed one of the world's largest clinically validated pain databases, comprising more than 153,000 patients and 28 billion clinical outcome data points, supporting the development of predictive tools designed to help physicians optimize treatment decisions, reduce unnecessary opioid prescribing, and improve patient care.
A second 2024 Forbes feature highlighted Meshkin's broader vision for applying Predictive Healthcare to improve health equity, particularly for historically underserved populations. The article explored how predictive medicine, genomics, and personalized healthcare have the potential to address disparities in care experienced by African American women by enabling earlier risk identification, more individualized treatment strategies, and better long-term health outcomes.

Meshkin founded Proove Biosciences in 2009, building it into one of North America’s fastest-growing technology companies, with recognition on the Inc. 500 and Deloitte Technology Fast 500. His entrepreneurial leadership earned him OCTANe's Emerging Technology Company CEO of the Year (2016), an Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award from the Orange County Business Journal, and two finalist honors for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Proove pioneered personalized medicine and genetic testing applications for chronic pain, with Meshkin contributing to peer-reviewed research on genetic testing and evidence-based pain treatment. Proove and Brian Meshkin were unjustly targeted by the U.S. Department of Justice in a multi-year legal case, ultimately prevailing in the interest of justice, with all charges dismissed. The proceedings interrupted the continued advancement and adoption of technologies intended to improve pain management and reduce reliance on opioid prescribing during a critical period of the opioid epidemic.
Following the resolution of the matter, Meshkin initiated legal action against the Department of Justice related to the government's handling of the case.
Beyond the legal proceedings, the clinical testing and remote patient monitoring model developed under Meshkin's leadership continued to gain broader acceptance. The genetic tests pioneered by Proove ultimately became eligible for reimbursement through Medicare and commercial health insurance. In addition, Proove's approach of conducting recurring remote patient health assessments and tracking treatment outcomes to improve predictive analytics anticipated practices that were later supported through Medicare reimbursement under new CPT codes for remote patient monitoring. These developments contributed to the broader evolution of digital health, personalized medicine, and biomarker-informed clinical care.
Public Service Before Business: A Lifetime of Community Leadership
Meshkin's social activism began at age 13, following the tragic death of a friend. who was struck and killed while riding a bicycle. In response, he led a student advocacy campaign that helped enact the nation’s first bicycle helmet law for children under 16 in Howard County, Maryland, in 1990. He subsequently worked with the National Safe Kids Campaign and other advocates to help advance approximately 300 similar bicycle helmet laws across the United States. For his efforts to protect children and his broader community activism, The Baltimore Sun recognized him as one of five “Earthly Angels,” highlighting his work addressing prejudice, hunger, homelessness, domestic violence, and cancer. In 2010, Meshkin was elected to the Howard County Board of Education, becoming the youngest-ever elected member of one of the nation’s leading school systems and, according to his biography, the first Asian-American member of the board. During his tenure, he was elected Vice Chairman and championed initiatives spanning digital education, sustainability, Six Sigma process improvements, student wellness, expanded services for disadvantaged and homeless students, and greater public participation in education policy. He also advocated for stronger constituent services, educator engagement, and world-class academic standards. Throughout his career, Meshkin has continued his commitment to civic and social impact through volunteer leadership and service on nonprofit and charitable boards, including the American Red Cross and education-focused organizations. His public service reflects a broader philosophy of social entrepreneurship: bringing together communities, institutions, and stakeholders to address complex challenges and improve the lives of others.
A Life Guided by Faith, Family, and Stewardship
Brian is a Christian and a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brian and his wife Kerry reside in the scenic Destin–30A region of Florida along the Gulf Coast where they actively serve in their church and community. Together they have built a blended family of five adult children and a two son-in-laws, who live across the nation in Southern California, Utah, Texas, and Florida.
